5 Tips to Create Killer Content
Author: From our expert member in Revenue Generation: RRC RESOURCES
Did you know that there are 97,105 searches per second on Google?
I’ll let that sink in.
That’s a LOT of searches.
Search engines, like Google, are the primary source of discovery for products & services — like yours.
So how do you make sure that your business gets some of this search traffic?
Content marketing is one of the most powerful unpaid ways to drive traffic to your site and even your social media. It’s also an excellent way to position yourself as a thought leader.
You’ve heard that content is king. It’s true. Content marketing is an incredibly powerful way to get the right kind of attention. You definitely want killer content.
Yes, creating quality content takes time. Plus, there are so many different types of content marketing. You’ve got blogs, vlogs, videos, podcasts, email campaigns, white papers, eBooks and infographics.
Phew! It can be overwhelming to decide where to start.
Creating Killer Content
That still leaves you with a blank document staring you in the face … mocking you, saying, “Go ahead! Just try to write this thing and make it interesting!” Most likely you’ll keep putting this at the bottom of your to-do list.
There’s an easier way to create strong content. My friends, here are 5 content marketing tips that will take you from zero to content marketing hero:
1. Interview a Client/Customer
A 30-minute interview with a customer can be repurposed into marketing content. Write up a few questions and then be ready to let the conversation evolve based on the answers. Use their words as inspiration for a blog, testimonial or case study. You can also edit that interview into shorter (58-second or less) segments to post on social. Another fringe benefit is that your guest will share the content with their network, expanding your reach beyond your followers.
2. Define Jargon
No one knows your industry’s acronyms, terms, and slang better than you. Create a post that breaks these down for the average person, so that they feel empowered with more knowledge. You also position yourself as a brand authority. Break these out into shorter segments to get a series of powerful social media posts.
3. Profile Staff
Make your supporting staff a star. Ask a staffer to share their expertise. Not only does this help you generate great content. It also helps to position your employees as an expert in their field. Plus, you get a different perspective and voice.
4. Day in the Life
What is a day in your life really like? Share an insider’s look at your typical workday. Share your favorite productivity tools and tricks of the trade.
5. Debunk a Myth
You know that annoying misconception that people always have about your brand, your industry, or your profession? With me, I’m often introduced as a PR expert. I’m not. I specialize in marketing services, NOT publicity. I’ve discovered that many people aren’t clear on the differences between the two industries. Illuminate and educate!
Here’s to your success using content marketing, becoming a king (queen) of your industry.
